The Wave $500
45” X 45”
Only two colors were used to create this masterpiece, phthalocyanine blue and burnt umber. Acrylic paint was rapidly applied on a wet undercoat of gesso with paper towels. The limiting of one’s palette to only two colors is inspired by the “block printing” process. The Wave’s particular inspiration comes from the very timeless and classic print by Chinese artist Hokusai (1760 – 1849) entitled In the Well if the Great Wave Off Kanagawa. |

Climbing the Face $500
45” X 45”
As a result of growing up a surfer in Florida, Robin plays with water “up close and personal” in this piece. As you look at this piece imagine yourself in the ocean going up over the face of a wave that is about to break on top of you. |

Sit Upon $500
45” X 45”
“Hand printed” paper is cut into strips and woven before being affixed to a canvas with matte medium. Sit Upon is named after Robin’s experience in Brownie’s where she made a “sit upon” that attached to her belt out of woven newspapers which was covered in slip stitched plastic. The “sit upon” was used to keep one’s pants from getting dirty while sitting in the woods. |

The Birth of a Planet $2000
47’’ X 65’’
One of the first large paintings Robin created using her hand printing process. Paint is applied to the canvas and then wet watercolor paper is laid on top while Robin “presses” out the paint mixing colors and creating textures. Robin’s nephew who is a Presbyterian minister stated folks would have trouble seeing this as birth as most don’t see birth as being violent. And Robin has heard many say this looks more like “global warming” or “death of a planet”. Good art always creates great discussion! |

Where the Desert Meets The Ocean $1800
47’’ X 65’’
This painting was created by laying a design out in the gesso and letting it dry completely. A wash of burnt umber is applied and allowed to dry. Color is then laid in while painting “flat” so the water can swirl and settle. The canvas is lightly sanded to bring out the undercoat and the original design. This painting does not represent in actual place but is a creation of Robin’s imagination. |
